Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has attracted attention on social media after sharing a video of himself exercising in a gym ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The video, reportedly posted on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, shows Obi exercising on a treadmill while expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future.

Accompanying the footage was a message promoting physical exercise as an important part of maintaining good health.

“Exercise is the best form of medicine for the body,” Obi wrote, alongside the encouraging message, “Nigeria will be OK.”

Social Media Reactions Follow Obi’s Workout Video

The video quickly generated reactions from Nigerians, with several supporters commending Obi for sharing his fitness routine.

Other social media users introduced humour into the discussion, drawing comparisons with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

One commenter wrote, “Make Tinubu recreate,” prompting further exchanges among users in the comment section.

Businessman and social media personality Linus Williams, popularly known as BLord, also reacted to the video with the word “Incoming.”

The reactions reflected how social media posts involving prominent political figures can quickly become part of broader political conversations, particularly as the country approaches another general election.

Obi Remains a Subject of Political Discussion

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party before subsequently joining the NDC, has continued to participate in public discussions about governance, economic management and national development.

His latest gym video has attracted attention beyond its original message about exercise and optimism, with some Nigerians interpreting it through the lens of the country's evolving political landscape.

However, the video itself provides no basis for drawing conclusions about the health or physical condition of other political leaders.

Social Media and the Road to 2027

As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, public figures are attracting attention not only through policy announcements and political speeches but also through everyday activities shared online.

Obi’s fitness video demonstrates how a simple social media post can generate conversations about personal discipline, public leadership and national optimism.

His message, “Nigeria will be OK,” also offers a positive note amid continuing public discussions about the country’s economic and political challenges.

As the election approaches, Nigerians are likely to continue engaging with political leaders through both formal campaign activities and informal online interactions.
