The Kebbi State Police Command says its operatives have killed two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle along the Tungargiwa–Saminaka road in Shanga Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He said the operation followed credible intelligence about a gang plotting to ambush unsuspecting commuters in the area.

According to him, a joint team of police and other security operatives stormed the forest hideout, engaging the suspects in a fierce gunfight. While two members of the gang were neutralized, others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and several live rounds of ammunition.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, lauded the operatives for their swift response and gallantry. He noted that sustained patrols in Shanga LGA and adjoining communities have been instrumental in reducing criminal activities.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring that the police command is fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
