Just In: Ekiti Man Arrested For Killing Resident Over N4,000

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a man after a fight over ₦4,000 led to the tragic death of a resident in Ado-Ekiti.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 15, at Uso community along Ado-Afao Road. The altercation was between a man identified simply as Michael, and 26-year-old John Dindul Selbol, an indigene of Langtang Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to eyewitnesses, what started as a heated argument quickly degenerated into a violent fight around 10:30 p.m. Both men sustained severe injuries during the clash. Michael was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, but was confirmed dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Selbol, who was also wounded in the fight, is currently receiving medical treatment under police watch.

Confirming the development, the Ekiti State Police Command said its officers documented the crime scene and have launched an investigation to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The Command assured residents that justice would be served while calling for calm in the community.

The tragic incident has sparked conversations in the area, with locals expressing shock that a disagreement over such a small amount of money could escalate into a fatal confrontation.
