The victims, identified as Monday Orlovuu and his friend, were reportedly ambushed while working on their farmland located about four kilometres from Naka, the local government headquarters. Eyewitnesses told reporters that the farmers had gone to tend their crops when the attackers swooped on them, leaving both men dead on the spot. The attack occurred just hours after the Chairman of Gwer West Local Government Council visited Goh to inspect farmlands allegedly destroyed by grazing cattle. The timing of the killings has further heightened fears among residents, who say the community has become a recurring target of violent assaults. Ajayi, who confessed to the alleged offence claimed he was under a ‘generational curse’ beyond his comprehension. The court presided over by Magistrate Taiwo Lebi, remanded the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Facility, pending the issuance of advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP).
